FAQ General

What Makes Lakeview Different?

We believe insurance should feel personal—not like a sales pitch. We take time to educate, answer questions, and create a plan that’s built around your family, your goals, and your budget. Our clients become part of the Lakeview family, and we’re here long after the policy is issued.

Do You Charge for Your Services?

No. Our guidance is completely free to you. We are paid by the insurance companies when a policy is issued, so you’ll never pay extra for working with us.

Can You Help if I Already Have Life Insurance?

Absolutely. Many of our clients already have coverage. We’ll review what you have, explain it in plain English, and let you know if you’re well protected or if there are opportunities to improve your plan. If what you have is great, we’ll tell you that too.

Are You Tied to One Insurance Company?

No. We’re an independent agency, which means we work with many of the nation’s top-rated insurance companies. Instead of trying to fit you into one company’s products, we compare options to find the best fit for your goals, health, and budget.

How Much Does Life Insurance Cost?

People assume it’s expensive.

Most people are surprised by how affordable life insurance can be. The cost depends on your age, health, coverage amount, and the type of policy you choose. We’ll shop multiple companies to find the best value for your situation.

What if I Have Health Problems?

Many people qualify even if they’ve been told “no” before or have medical conditions. Every insurance company has different underwriting guidelines, so we shop around to find the best option available.

Will I Have to Take a Medical Exam?

Not always. Many policies today require no medical exam and can be approved with a health questionnaire and electronic records. If an exam is required, we’ll let you know before you apply.

How Long Does the Process Take?

Some policies can be approved the same day, while others may take several weeks depending on the type of coverage and underwriting requirements. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

Can You Help With Retirement Planning Too?

Yes. We help families protect what they’ve built while also creating tax-efficient strategies for retirement, including Indexed Universal Life (IUL), annuities, and other financial solutions designed around your goals.

What Happens During the First Appointment?

Your first appointment is simply a conversation. We’ll learn about your family, goals, budget, and any existing coverage. Then we’ll explain your options in plain English and answer every question. There’s no pressure and no obligation.

Can I Do Everything Virtually?

Yes! Most of our appointments are conducted virtually, allowing us to help families throughout North Carolina and many other states. If you’re local, we’re always happy to meet in person.

Can I Change My Coverage Later?

In many cases, yes. Life changes, and your insurance should keep up. We’ll review your coverage whenever your needs change to help ensure it still fits your goals.

Life (IUL)

Do You Charge for Your Services?

No. Our guidance is completely free to you. We are paid by the insurance companies when a policy is issued, so you’ll never pay extra for working with us.

What if I Already Have a Financial Advisor?

That’s perfectly fine. We frequently work alongside financial advisors, accountants, and attorneys to make sure your protection and retirement strategy fits into your overall financial plan.

FAQ Agents

Are You Looking for Agents?

Yes—we're always open to meeting the right people.

We're looking for motivated, coachable individuals who are self-starters and genuinely want to build a meaningful business helping families. Previous insurance experience isn't required—we provide comprehensive training, proven systems, and ongoing mentorship from some of the top professionals in the industry.

Because we invest a great deal of time into our agents, we're selective about who we bring on. If you're hardworking, willing to learn, and looking for an opportunity with unlimited income potential and a supportive team culture, we'd love to have a conversation and see if we're a good fit for each other.

Do I Need Life Insurance Experience?

No. Many of our most successful agents started with no insurance experience at all. What matters most is your work ethic, willingness to learn, and desire to genuinely help people. We can teach insurance—we can’t teach integrity, character, or drive.

How Do I Get Licensed?

We’ll walk you through the entire licensing process from start to finish. We’ll recommend the required pre-licensing course, help you prepare for the state exam, and guide you through contracting with our carrier partners once you’re licensed. You won’t have to figure it out on your own.

Is This Full-time or Part-time?

Both. We do work with part-time agents, but we do so with a purpose. Our ideal candidate has an exit strategy and plans to transition into the business full-time within approximately 90 days. Because we invest significant time, coaching, and resources into every new agent, we’re looking for people who are serious about building a long-term career—not just earning occasional extra income.

How Do Agents Get Paid?

Our agents are independent contractors and are paid directly by the insurance companies when policies are issued. Compensation varies based on the products you sell and your production. There are no limits on your earning potential—your income is based on the value you create and the people you help. Our very competitive compensation structure allows agents to promote every three months (based on their production).

What Kind of Training Do You Provide?

We believe great agents are developed, not born.
When you join Lakeview, you’ll receive:

  • Hands-on mentoring
  • Live role-play and sales training
  • Product education
  • Weekly coaching and accountability
  • Access to top industry trainers and proven sales systems
  • Ride-alongs and real client appointments as you learn

Our goal isn’t just to help you get licensed—it’s to help you build a business you’re proud of.

What Makes Lakeview Different From Other Agencies?

We believe relationships matter more than transactions.

At Lakeview, you’ll never be handed a script and told to “figure it out.” We focus on education, mentorship, integrity, and serving families the right way. We celebrate each other’s wins, support one another through challenges, and are committed to helping every agent grow both personally and professionally.

When you succeed, we all succeed.

Can I Work Remotely?

Absolutely. Most of our business is conducted virtually, giving you the flexibility to work from home, meet clients online, or build your business from wherever you choose. If you’re local, you’re always welcome to work alongside us and participate in in-person training and events.

Is There a Cost to Join?

There are no franchise fees or large upfront costs to join Lakeview.

Like any independent insurance business, you’ll be responsible for obtaining your state insurance license, passing any required background checks, purchasing reputable leads, and maintaining any required business tools or subscriptions. We’ll explain every expected expense upfront so there are no surprises.

What Are You Looking for in an Agent?

We’re looking for people with integrity, a servant’s heart, and a strong work ethic. You don’t have to know everything—we’ll teach you. But you do need to be coachable, dependable, and willing to put in the work to build something meaningful.

Where Do You Get Clients?

We offer access to high-quality leads and proven marketing systems. Many of our agents also learn how to generate referrals, work social media, and build a sustainable business that doesn’t rely solely on purchased leads.

How Long Does It Take to Become Successful?

Success looks different for everyone. Some agents earn their first commission within weeks of getting licensed, while others choose to grow at a slower pace. The agents who consistently attend training, follow the systems, and stay coachable typically see the fastest growth.

Can I Build an Agency of My Own?

Yes. As your business grows, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and build a team if that’s part of your long-term vision.

Still Wondering if Lakeview is the Right Fit?

The best way to find out is to have a conversation. We’ll answer your questions, explain how we operate, and help you decide whether building your business with Lakeview is the right next step—for both of us.
